Eko-Park is
a luxurious estate located not far from the city center, close to Pole
Mokotowskie - one of the
largest recreational areas in Warsaw, It has been built by renowned
architectural practices on nearly 19 hectares since 2000; its urban layout was
designed by APA Kuryłowicz & Associates. The first blocks referred to the
best traditions of inter-war architecture in Warsaw, but recent estate
fragments are more of a disappointment, with the exception of a tower building,
designed by Grupa 5. Its architects rejected the dictate of the right angle and
trite neo-Modernist tricks. The building has a multi-sided, "broken"
plan. The crown of the tower was truncated at an angle, thus making it look
more dynamic and higher than it really is. The designers employed an untypical
top form: a glass-filled notch in the upper part of the facade, hiding a
two-level winter garden belonging to the top-story apartment.
